Project Overview
Founded in 1951, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University had a 69-year history at the time of the original report. As a Grade III, Class A general hospital, it undertakes medical care, teaching, research, and public service responsibilities.
The hospital operates three campuses—Jiangjiayuan, Sajiawan, and Maigaoqiao—covering approximately 55,333 square meters of land and 160,000 square meters of floor area. It has 1,700 approved beds, 45 inpatient wards, and more than 2,700 employees.
Project Scope
The project established a unified 3D visual management platform integrating 16 subsystems, including HVAC, hot water, elevators, water supply and drainage, smart lighting, parking, electronic patrol, and fire protection.
An energy management system was also introduced to meter, aggregate, and analyze water, electricity, and gas consumption, providing data to support campus energy management.
Project Benefits
With three campuses and 160,000 square meters of floor area, the hospital manages extensive facilities infrastructure and diverse equipment. A unified view of these systems enables coordinated management and helps staff quickly understand operating conditions.
Management Value of the 3D Visualization Platform
Integration of 16 Facilities Subsystems
The platform brings 16 subsystems into a shared 3D environment. Managers can explore information by campus, building, equipment, and system, reducing the communication overhead caused by fragmented information.
Utility Metering and Analysis
The energy management system continuously collects and analyzes water, electricity, and gas consumption data. Categorized views help the hospital identify major areas of consumption and inform future operational improvements and energy-saving initiatives.
Advancing Digital Facilities Management in Smart Hospitals
This project demonstrates the shift from managing individual assets to coordinating multiple building systems. The 3D platform displays operating conditions, while the energy management system builds a continuous operational dataset.
Together, they provide a clearer foundation for facilities management across multiple campuses, complex buildings, and environments requiring uninterrupted operation.
